UEFA Champions League 2018/19 Quarterfinals Draw: Possible opponents for all the teams

The UEFA Champions League 2018/19 is now down to eight teams and the draw to decide the quarter-final fixtures is almost upon us.

The second legs of the eight round of 16 encounters were fairly interesting with Porto, Juventus, Ajax and Manchester United coming back from first leg losses. Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur had relatively easier passages to the last eight.

With the quarterfinal and semifinal draw scheduled to be held later today, we’re taking a look at who the teams in the draw can be drawn against.

Teams in the draw

The following eight teams are in the draw: AFC Ajax, Barcelona, Juventus, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Porto, and Tottenham Hotspur.

How the draws will be made

Clubs from the same leagues are not drawn against each other in the round of 16 of UEFA competitions. However, everything changes from the last-eight stage onwards. All the teams will be placed in the same pot and will be picked out one by one.

This means any of the eight teams can be pitted against the other in the quarterfinal and semifinal stages. With four English teams in the fray, we could be in for a derby in the quarterfinals, semifinals and the final of the Champions League.

How semifinal lineups will be decided

After the four quarterfinal fixtures are decided, two fixtures will be clubbed together to determine a potential semifinal encounter. For example, hypothetically if Barcelona vs Tottenham and Manchester United vs Juventus are clubbed together in the quarterfinals, then the winners of these two matches will face each other in the semis.
