MYSA among 45 organisations to receive support from UEFA

The Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA) is among 45 non-governmental organisations set to receive support from the UEFA Foundation for Children. 

UEFA Foundation for Children’s board of trustees, under the chairmanship of the UEFA president, Aleksander Čeferin, met at the House of European Football in Nyon on 29 November selected the 45 organisations whose activities are in line with the foundation’s values and had responded to the call for projects issued in the summer and submitted projects promoting access to sport, health, education, personal development and/or the integration of minorities.

UEFA has increased its budget to the foundation, allowing €3,838,504 (Approximately 448,614,110.26 Kenyan Shillings) to be allocated to new projects.

The members of the board of trustees agreed that half of the amount available would be allocated to projects in Europe and the other half to projects elsewhere in the world.

To fulfil its objective of helping children and safeguarding their rights, the board of trustees selected the following 45 projects:

2. Oltalom Sport Association – Chance for all – Let them score – Hungary.
3. Newcastle United Foundation – Active Lives – UK
4. Everton in the Community – Disability sport and integration: focusing on mental illness – UK
5. Giovanni van Bronckhorst foundation – Access to sport is a right – Netherlands
6. Step Up Orphan Opportunity centre -Football for Orphans in Belskoye Ustye – Russia
7. Ayuda en Acción – Paths to equity through sport – Spain
8. Play For Change – Play for Change Sport Center – Italy
9. Shaktar Social, charity organisation – Come On, Let’s Play! – Ukraine
10. EFDN – European Football Development Network – Scoring for Health – Belgium, Israel, Netherland, Poland,Ukraine and UK
11. WAU ry – Well-being through sport – Finland
12. Genesis Project – Genesis Football for Peace Academy – Bosnia
13. PluSport Sport Handicap Suisse – Goal Plus: football for children with disabilities – Switzerland

“It has been a great pleasure to be able to participate in the selection of the projects,” said Fiona May, member of the board of trustees. “It wasn’t an easy task to evaluate all the projects but hopefully we can reach and help as many children around the world to give them opportunities as well as education thanks to sport.”
